Marquis Tree Service was founded in 1993 by John Marquis — a certified arborist with degrees in Arboriculture and Urban Forestry. Three decades later, we are still the tree company homeowners across Lowell, Billerica, Burlington, Lexington, and Greater Boston call first.
From a Station Wagon to Middlesex County's Most Trusted Tree Company
John Marquis started the company in 1993 with a simple goal: do the work right and treat people well. What began as a lawn care operation grew into one of the most respected tree service companies in Eastern Massachusetts — not through shortcuts, but through consistency.
While running the business, John pursued his passion for trees academically. He studied at the Stockbridge School of Agriculture and the University of Massachusetts, earning a two-year degree in Arboriculture and a four-year degree in Urban Forestry. That educational foundation shaped everything about how Marquis Tree Service operates today.
Thirty years later, some of the original staff members are still with us. Our team includes ISA Certified Arborists, a Board Certified Master Arborist, and OSHA-certified professionals who bring the same care to every job — whether it is a single branch in Woburn or a full property clearing in Concord.
